Find the Install File

Note: If you are a Mac user you do not need to manually install the JDK, instead read this guide on Java and the Mac OS X.

Before following this tutorial, you need to have downloaded the latest version of the Java Development Kit.

You will need to find the downloaded JDK install file on your computer. Open Windows Explorer by pressing the "windows key" together with the letter “E”. Now, navigate to the directory where the file is located.

If you can’t remember where the file is, use Windows Explorer to search your files for “jdk-6u11”.

Once you have located the file, double-click it twice to start the installation.
