The winners of the Duke's Choice Awards have been announced. The awards recognize projects that use the Java platform in an innovative way.
The following projects all win a Duke statuette and will be showcased at JavaOne:
- Innovative End-to-End Consumer Application - MLB Advanced Media : An online fantasy baseball scoring application.
- Innovative Health Care & Human Services - Pulse Health Intact System : A telemedicine solution that transmits patient data to doctors.
- Innovative Government & Public Works - Pennsylvania Turnpike Laser-based Vehicle Measurement System : A system which can calculate the weight of trucks without the need for them to stop. It can also measure other types of vehicles in motion.
- Innovative User Experience - EffectiveUI's 2010 Winter Olympics JavaFX Medal Geo-View : The nifty JavaFX application that provided different ways of viewing the various real-time medal counts.
- Innovative Technical Data Visualization - Gephi : An interactive graph visualization platform for exploring complex data sets.
- Innovative Java for Developers - Wabi Sabi Software's Log4JFugue : An interesting idea of listening to an application to spot patterns and changes from the messages it puts into logs.
- Innovative Java for Education - MyUniPortal's Rolling Thunder : An interface that combines different types of data (video, 2D & 3D mapping, queries, email,. and more) into an interactive document
- Innovative Visualization and Data Intelligence - Visual Mining's NetCharts Pro v7.0 : A Java platform for delivering interactive charts and graphs.
- Innovative Automotive/Transportation - Case Systems' Solar Traffic Monitoring Solution : A solar-powered, real-time traffic monitoring system.
- Innovative Java Building Block - Cinterion TC65i + EGS5 : Java powered wireless modules that enable mobile devices to communicate securely.
