Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 4 Released

Tuesday June 16, 2009

The Mac users on Leopard, who have installed the recent Mac OS X 10.5.7 update, will now find the Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 4 appearing in their software updater list. There is an equivalent release, Java for Mac OS X 10.4 Release 9, for users still on Tiger.

This is a security update release that fixes a number of vulnerabilities in the Java platform on the Mac. The most notable is the ability for a malicious application or applet to escalate its privileges to the current user's. This was fixed by Sun with Java SE 6 Update 11.
