The Wordle Applet

Wednesday September 10, 2008

After yesterday's thoughts about the possibility of applets invading the Internet, I had a quick scout around to see if there are any new good ones out there. I can't claim its been written with one of the early releases of Java SE Update 10 but the Wordle applet looks pretty cool to me.

It can take a list of words or in my case the RSS feed for this site and make a jumbled word picture. If you make a Wordle yourself make sure you use the top menu or right-click on the image to see all the different customizations that you can use. As you can see from mine I clearly didn't take advantage of them, and I'm still trying to figure out where I used the word "elbows" on the site!
