A New Lease of Life For Applets?

Tuesday September 9, 2008

There's a good article over on InfoWorld on the latest version of Java. It was due to be released last Thursday but has been delayed due an issue found in the final round of testing.

It will be interesting to see if Java SE 6 Update 10 will have an effect on the use of applets. It certainly sounds promising with the herald of quicker start-up times and the ability to drag them on to the desktop to run as applications outside the browser.

If you're interested you can find more information on the Sun website about the release candidate version of Java 6 Update 10 that is currently available for downloading.
